Beartooth

^^

When: Saturday 13th July
Where: Metro Theatre

Columbus, Ohio hardcore band BEARTOOTH are bringing their The Disease Tour down under. Having toured new album Disease extensively across the USA and Europe, they’ll be making their way to Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane this July 2019 for four relentless shows of riff-driven intensity. Tickets for all shows go on sale at11am Thursday, February 28. My Live Nation members can secure tickets first during the exclusive pre-sale beginning10am on Wednesday, February 27 until 10am Thursday, February 28. Led by multitalented instrumentalist and songwriter Caleb Shomo, BEARTOOTH are now three albums into a remarkable career that has seen them fast become a headlining festival act due to their raw, dynamic and theatrical live show. They’ve collected awards from heavy and hardcore tastemakers Kerrang!, Metal Hammer Golden God Awards and Loudwire Music Awards, all the while cracking the metal and commercial charts worldwide. Previous releases on Red Bull Records “Sick” (EP) (2013), “Disgusting” (2014) and “Aggressive” (2016) have won the group a legion of loyal followers, but it’s the new and third full-length album “Disease” that has seen them cement their reputation as a global force in the hardcore genre.Disease is brave in its painstakingly riff-driven examination of the demons that come from a dark depression. “The album is a whirlwind of emotion,” Shomo explains. “Crazy highs, crazy lows, and lots of intensity. This record isn’t about winning anything. It’s about trying to even begin to learn how to deal with things. It’s hard to process just how dark you can get, what you can really put yourself through with expectations. It’s like starting from the beginning all over again. At the end of the day, it is a very dark album.” “Compelling, relatable and genuinely edge-of-your-seat listening...” – Album of the Week, Kerrang! “Get your fists in the air, embrace someone you care about and come grab life by the throat with Beartooth!” – Heavy Mag. “12 tracks of catchy, heavy, venomous brilliance.” – Invicta Mag.

Birds of Tokyo: Good Lord Tour

^^

When: Saturday 21st September
Where:
Enmore Theatre

It's been nearly three years since Birds Of Tokyo did a full national tour but with their new track "Good Lord" riding high in the charts the band has finally announced a string of dates around Australia later this year. Tickets will go on sale to members of their mailing list from 9am tomorrow and to the general public next Monday. Full date, venue and ticketing details are listed below. "Good Lord" is currently at #1 on iTunes, top 5 on the radio airplay charts and rising rapidly up the Spotify and Apple Music rankings so it's no wonder these gigs have been dubbed "The Good Lord Tour". The haunting song is a raw rendering of lead singer Ian Kenny's marriage implosion. "To be honest it's been a rollercoaster couple of years", he explains. "I was basically in pieces when we were writing this song and maybe that intensity explains why it's striking such a chord with people. It's great that something good can come out of something bad - funny how often that happens if you can just get through the rough patches in life." "Good Lord" is actually part of a larger batch of songs that were all written in the wake of Kenny's marriage breakup, with last year's more upbeat "Unbreakable" (heard everywhere as the theme to the Invictus Games) actually being the first piece drawn from his thematically linked body of work. "We've still got at least three more new tracks that explore the breakup experience from various angles so there's going to be a bit of a theme running through our stuff for the rest of this year", says Birds guitarist Adam Spark. "It's cheaper than therapy to use music to get this stuff off our chests - we're really lucky that way." "Good Lord" is the latest in over a decade of epic Birds Of Tokyo songs that have resonated with Australian audiences. Since breaking out of Perth back in 2007 the band has had 11 different tracks make Triple J's Hottest 100 and they've won APRA's "Rock Work Of The Year" on five separate occasions but this new single seems set to eclipse even their biggest anthems like "Lanterns", "Plans" and "Anchor".
